LiftFoils NL Riders

At LiftFoils Netherlands, we believe that the future of foiling is shaped on the water — by the riders who push boundaries, explore new lines and inspire a new generation of foilers.
ur team is made up of passionate athletes from different disciplines: wing, downwind, surf, freestyle and race. Each rider brings their own story, style and vision, but they all share one thing: an obsession with the feeling of flight.

From the powerful North Sea winds to long downwind glides along the Dutch coast and winter training on tropical islands, our riders embody the spirit of progression. They test new equipment, give feedback on innovation, represent the Lift brand in competitions and events, and help build the growing foil community in the Netherlands and beyond.

Whether you're just starting your foiling journey or chasing the next level, we hope their stories inspire you to get out there, explore more, and enjoy the freedom that foiling brings.

Hi, I am Daan Meily. I’ve always been drawn to pushing my limits on the water. After years of competing internationally in windsurfing and SUP, I went looking for a new challenge and found it in foiling. What I love most about this sport is how it brings everything together, training, being outside in nature, and constantly learning something new. Whether it’s racing a 100 km course like the legendary Round Texel or chasing endless glides on a downwinder, I thrive on progression. Downwind foiling in particular keeps me hooked, it’s the hardest discipline I’ve tried, but also the most rewarding. Every session challenges me in different conditions and reminds me what a privilege it is to be healthy and able to practice so many watersports. This year I set myself the goal of reaching the podium in every wingfoil race I enter. I’ve consistently been among the top riders and I’m pushing harder every race to finish the season strong. At the same time, I’m proud of balancing my professional career in corporate sustainability with being on the water almost every day, that consistency is what fuels my progress. Most of the time you’ll find me foiling around my hometown of Scheveningen, the surf capital of the Netherlands, or exploring new downwind routes along the Dutch coast. In the winter I head to the Canary Islands, where the consistent wind and waves allow me to keep training and testing myself. Looking ahead, I’m shifting more of my focus from wingfoil racing toward downwind and surf foiling. The first downwind events are starting to appear in the Netherlands, and I’m aiming to compete at the big European races while also exploring the many unexplored downwind runs close to home. For me, foiling represents freedom, and I’m excited to keep pushing the sport with Lift Foils even further as part of the Lift family.

Hi, I am Sill Romeijn. Growing up on St. Maarten and Bonaire, the ocean has always been my playground. From windsurfing to kitesurfing and eventually foiling, I’ve always chased that feeling of moving with the elements. A few years ago I picked up wingfoiling and instantly felt the same excitement I had as a kid learning my first waterstarts — something clicked, and I knew this was the discipline I wanted to devote myself to. What I love most about wingfoiling is the blend of speed, silence, balance and creativity. Every session feels different. Some days are about pushing limits in waves or freestyle, other days it’s about long glides, clean race lines or just enjoying the freedom of flying above the water. It’s a sport where progression never stops, and that constant evolution keeps me fully committed. While I’ve competed in different watersports over the years, my biggest achievement in wingfoiling is the pure joy it brings me. Being on the water reminds me why I fell in love with board sports in the first place — it resets me, challenges me and gives me perspective. It’s a privilege to be healthy, outside and part of a community that lives for the same passion. These days you’ll find me training around the Dutch coast, especially near Wijk aan Zee or wherever the wind is best. I’m always exploring new spots, new conditions, and new ways to push myself. Growing up in the Caribbean and now riding in the colder, punchier winds of the Netherlands has shaped me into a rider who adapts quickly and thrives in variety. Looking ahead, my focus is on developing both my race performance and my freeride style, while also diving deeper into downwind and surf foiling. These disciplines challenge me in completely new ways — reading the ocean, trusting my instincts, and staying patient for the perfect glide. I want to grow with the sport, compete more across Europe, and continuously refine my technique. For me, foiling represents freedom — the ability to disconnect from everything and be fully present on the water. I’m excited to keep progressing, exploring and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with Lift Foils, and I’m proud to represent the Lift family on this journey.
